Screens hide the view of a body in the road as Billings police investigate a death on Highway 3 west of the airport. Black skid marks could be seen in the road near the body in the eastbound lane.

The woman killed in a hit-and-run on Highway 3 early Saturday morning has been identified.

Billings woman Tristan Gray, 22, was identified Monday as the victim by Yellowstone County Assistant Deputy Coroner Rich Hoffman.

Gray was killed by multiple blunt force trauma, caused by a vehicle versus pedestrian crash, Hoffman said.

Gray’s body was found lying in the eastbound lane just east of the airport, near the intersection with Southview Drive, early Saturday. Dispatch received a call regarding the body at 3:09 a.m. and police were still on scene processing until 10 a.m., according to Sgt. Harley Cagle.

Two “vehicles of interest” were seen leaving the area before police arrived, according to BPD. One was a 2000s model Yukon- or Suburban-type vehicle, white in color. The other was a mid-1980s Chevy truck, dark in color and possibly towing a trailer.

Anyone with information is asked to call BPD at 657-8460.

Police are still searching for suspects, with none in custody, according to Captain Neil Lawrence.
