A Pacific storm is expected to come through the Billings area Thursday, affecting most of southeast and central Montana, as well as northern Wyoming.
According to the National Weather Service, the storm system will bring rain and wet snow, dropping about a foot of snow in the Absaroka-Beartooth and Bighorn Mountain ranges.
Plains areas are expected to see rain showers with isolated thunderstorms Thursday afternoon, turning to a snow mix by the evening.
There is a 60 percent chance of precipitation in the Billings area, with temperatures reaching a high of 56. Thursday's rain showers will likely turn to a rain and snow mix by evening. Less than half an inch of snow is expected.
There is an 80 percent chance of precipitation for Billings on Friday, with new snow accumulation at less than half an inch.
The storm system is expected to leave the area by Saturday, making way for mostly sunny skies and temperatures reaching a high of 61 by Sunday.
