Here is a look at some of the events marking Memorial Day.


BILLINGS: • Individual veterans units will provide firing details around the city on Memorial Day. At 8 a.m., the Marine Corps League will be at the Veterans Memorial on the Courthouse lawn. At 8:30 a.m. a VFW combined detail will be at Veteran's Park Memorial, and the Marine Corps League will be at Riverside Cemetery. At 9 a.m., an American Legion detail is at Terrace Gardens Cemetery.

All parade details will assemble in the Albertsons parking lot at 24th Street West and Central Avenue. At 10 a.m., the parade will march down Central Avenue to Mountview Cemetery. At approximately 10:45 a.m., the main Memorial Day service will be conducted at the upper veterans' plot before a brief service

• A Memorial Day Service of Remembrance begins at noon Monday at Yellowstone Valley Memorial Park at 3605 Grand Ave. Rev. John Akre will give a short message, and a bagpiper and buglers will play.

• A Memorial Day service is at 9 a.m. Monday at Terrace Gardens Cemetery between 33rd and 34th Streets West and Howard Avenue. The main speaker is Pastor Tony Hatzenbuehler of Valley Baptist Church, who also serves as chaplain for the Marine Corps League and assists the Naval Reserve with its chaplaincy needs. Magic City Chapter Order of DeMolay members will have a flag raising ceremony, and the color guard and rifle volley will be performed by members of Yellowstone Post 4, American Legion. The soloist is Christie Hageman. In case of inclement weather, the service will be in Smith's West Chapel adjacent to the cemetery.

CROW AGENCY: • A Memorial Day program begins at 11 a.m. Monday at the Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument. The keynote speaker is Loren Yellowbird, a descendant of Custer's Arikara scouts and a National Park ranger from the Fort Union National Historic Site. Local veterans groups will also take part in the ceremony.

EKALAKA: • A no-host lunch at the Old Stand Grill will follow the Memorial Day services on Monday. The lunch is sponsored by American Legion Post 60 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7885, and some of the proceeds will help fund community projects of the veterans organizations.

FROMBERG: • VFW Post 5748 and American Legion Post 71 will hold a Memorial Day service at 11 a.m. at Gebo Cemetery and then march through Fromberg at 11:30 a.m. A potluck dinner begins at noon at the Legion Hall.

GLENDIVE: • A Memorial Day observance and program is at 10 a.m. Monday at Gazebo Park on Merrill Avenue, conducted by the Glendive Veterans Honor Guard. There will also be ceremonies at 10:45 a.m. at the American Legion plot, at 11 a.m. at the Eastern Montana Veterans Home, at 11:30 a.m. at the Dawson County Cemetery and at noon at the Bell Street Bridge.

JOLIET: • After activities in Fromberg in the morning, VFW Post 5748 and American Legion Post 71 will march through Joliet at 1:30 p.m. to the Joliet Cemetery for a service at 2 p.m. There is also a service at 3 p.m. at the Rockvale Cemetery. Joliet's VFW service office, Al Daviau, will speak.

LAUREL: • A Memorial Day service begins at 9 a.m. at the Laurel Cemetery. Pastor Martin Dreyer will led the prayer, and the main speaker is Yellowstone County Commissioner Bill Kennedy. The VFW Honor Guard presents a 21-gun salute. American Legion Post 123 and VFW Post 3177 are sponsoring the service.

PARK CITY: • American Legion Post 100 conducts services at 9 a.m. at the Park City Cemetery. Pastor Mark Brazelton opens and closes the remembrance with prayers. Legion Post 4 member John Louk is the main speaker at the program, which will be emceed by Stan Bradley. Music is provided by Pastor Brazelton and Charlotte Benner.

GREYBULL, Wyo.: • The Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion will host services at Hillside Cemetery at 10 a.m., followed by services at 11 a.m. at the cemetery in Emblem.

WORLAND, Wyo.: • The American Legion will host services at 11 a.m. at the cemetery in Worland.

CODY, Wyo.: • The American Legion and the VFW will host services at Riverside Cemetery followed by the rededication of the City Park monument to honor veterans.

POWELL, Wyo.: • The Veterans of Foreign Wars will host a 10 a.m. service at Crown Hill Cemetery.

BASIN, Wyo.: • The American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars will host services at Mountain View Cemetery at 10 a.m.

THERMOPOLIS, Wyo.: • The Veterans of Foreign Wars will host services at Monument Hill cemetery at 11 a.m. followed by services at Riverside Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. and a noon ceremony at the Park Street Bridge.

SHERIDAN, Wyo.: • The public is invited to meet at the Sheridan County Courthouse at 10 a.m. before 11 a.m. services at the city cemetery. The Veterans of Foreign Wars will also host an "in-house celebration" from 1 to 5 p.m. at 758 Broadway Ave.
