The Montana Army National Guard's 190th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion named Sgt. Erin Sanderson soldier of the year and Sgt. Adam Olson noncommissioned officer of the year.
The soldier of the year and NCO of the year competitions included a physical fitness assessment, map reading exercise, weapons qualification, Army Warrior Task testing, a written exam, and an appearance with the battalion's command sergeant major. The competition was held Saturday at the Billings Armed Forces Reserve Center on Gabel Road.
"These soldiers represent the very best that the Montana Army National Guard has to offer," said Command Sgt. Maj. Lloyd Nelson in a prepared statement. "Their professionalism and skill throughout the competition is truly inspiring."
Sanderson, of Malta, is a member of the 484th Military Police Company. Although Sanderson is a sergeant, she was eligible to compete for the honor of soldier of the year because she was only recently promoted.
Olson lives in Glasgow and is a member of Detachment 1 of the 484th Military Police Company.
