School District 2's three standing committees will meet tonight to tackle a number of issues. The committees will meet in different rooms at Lincoln Center, 415 N. 30th St.

• The Education Committee meets at 5:30 in the boardroom. High on the agenda is a celebration with district librarians and volunteers who will be honored for their leadership and service in completing the five-year, district-wide, library automation project.

Technology integration specialist Kevin Croff will also give the committee an overview of how the district plans to develop technology curriculum standards in the district.

Committee members also will get a brief update on the class-ranking study the district is undertaking. A final report from the committee is expected by December.

• The Business Committee meets at 5:30 in Room 213. The committee will be asked to recommend board approval of the architecture firm Spectrum Group Architects for the Senior High and Skyview High fitness center projects, and JGA Architects-Engineers-Planners for the West High gym project.

Committee members will also be asked to recommend approval of a state INTERCAP loan to buy two warehouse copies at a cost of about $31,000.

The committee will also discuss credit card purchasing procedures for the district, and hear about Business Office procedures for employee termination payoff.

• The School/Community Committee meets at 6 p.m. in the basement Lincoln Center room. Members will hear an update on the single-member district electoral process that will be presented to the Board of Trustees later this month. Under the plan adopted by voters last spring, elementary trustees will be elected from geographical districts rather than at large.

Members will also hear an update on Saturday Live, slated for Sept. 27, and the Partners in Education program.

The committee will be asked to recommend to the board approval of personnel evaluation instruments for counselors, speech and language pathologists, audiologists and occupational/physical therapists.

Committee members will hear about the work and goals of the district's Diversity Committee. The committee will also hear an update on how the district plans to involve parents in the school improvement process, as well as the proposed objectives and a work plan for the committee for the 2003-04 school year.
