Montana's senior U.S. Senator Max Baucus will celebrate the grand opening of the General Electric Operations Center that will bring at least 150 good-paying jobs to Billings today.
Baucus, a Democrat, was instrumental in securing more than $758,000 to help complete the new facility. General Electric decided to build the facility in Billings after representatives attended Baucus' 2007 Montana Economic Development Summit in Butte. Baucus' summit highlighted the economic advantages of building in Montana. GE company heads were impressed with Montana's universities, quality of life and the work ethic of Montanans.
Baucus will join representatives from General Electric and the Big Sky Economic Development Authority in cutting the ribbon to officially open the operations center.
GE is composed of a wide range of technology businesses including electrical generation, healthcare, and aviation. It is a leading financial services firm, and serves customers around the country and throughout the world.
