Yellowstone County Sheriff Mike Linder on Friday cautioned people about solicitations by an out-of-state organization for search-and-rescue equipment.
The sheriff’s office was notified that an organization called Search and Rescue Charities has been seeking contributions in the Yellowstone County area. Internet research indicates that SRC has addresses in Oregon and Washington, he said.

Local residents told the sheriff’s office that SRC claims to be buying equipment and training for local search-and-rescue units, Linder said. The sheriff’s office is not familiar with the organization and is unaware of any contributions being spent on local search-and-rescue efforts, he said.
