An 18-year-old female was seriously injured Saturday afternoon when she over-corrected her SUV and collided with a tractor-trailer on Old U.S. 10, between Laurel and Park City.

Emergency responders were called to the crash at 1:45, which occurred just inside the Yellowstone County line, MHP Trooper Brett Riesinger said.

The teen, who was driving a gray Chevy TrailBlazer, may have been distracted as she was driving westbound toward Park City, Riesinger said. She over-corrected, and the SUV entered the eastbound lane, colliding with the tractor-trailer that was hauling grain.

The tractor-trailer with a yellow cab, driven by a man in his late 40s, drove off the side of the road before it stopped. Both drivers were alone in their vehicles, and neither driver's identity was released.

The truck driver, who sustained minor injuries, was taken by an MHP trooper to St. Vincent Healthcare. The female driver was taken by a Life Flight medical helicopter to St. Vincent in critical condition.
