So, what did you think about the Trump vs. Putin fiasco? Some thoughts popped into my mind.
First, what can be said about an intellectual debate between a criminal mastermind and Winnie the Pooh? (My apologies to Christopher Robin.)
I’m sure you have heard many comments by now about Trump’s mindless babble of throwing our intelligence agencies under the bus and then moonwalking backwards the next day. It is reassuring to see that the president has managed to claw his way back up to mediocre.
When I was stationed at Malmstrom Air Force Base in 1970, I was “invited” to attend a speech by our base commander. It was a packed house and we all wore green due to it being St. Patrick’s Day.
I never will forget the words of our commander: “Mark my words, the USSR (Russia) will never waver from their goal of world domination!”
Those words are as appropriate today as they were in the Cold War.
The Bible says in Isaiah 11:6 that someday the lamb and the wolf will hang out together.
Our president, as seen on TV, seemed sheepish around the predatory dictator of Russia! That prophecy has come to pass, folks!
Some time ago, I received a letter and certificate from Donald Rumsfeld, thanking me for my vital participation and assistance in winning the Cold War!
When I read those words, I immediately recalled the words of my commander, and blurted out to no one in particular, “No, we did not win the Cold War!”
A war is not over, just because one party declares victory! There are just as many “spooks” out there now as there were, if not more, as there were during the Cold War!
