Time capsule installed in the Kate Fratt building

Kate Fratt building co-owner Russ Fagg and project superintendent Jeff Schneider install a time capsule in the Kate Fratt building in Downtown Billings. The former Catholic school building is currently being remodeled.

Russ Fagg and project superintendent Jeff Schneider placed a time capsule in the wall of the Kate Fratt building on Thursday.

The building, which formerly housed the St. Francis Upper School, is being turned into condominiums. The building will be known as Fratt Historic Condominiums.

Fagg said he had learned from a few former teachers that a time capsule was stored within the walls of the building. The capsule was believed to be hidden behind a white brick that can be viewed from outside. However, as construction continued, crews didn't find one and Fagg decided to place his own capsule in the same spot.

Some of the items in the capsule include a copy of the New Testament, copies of The Billings Gazette and Wall Street Journal, a history of the building, documents related to the building, and a letter from Fagg.

Fagg said he hoped the time capsule would be opened in 100 years.
