Billings TrailNet’s unveiling of the newest portion of the Skyline Trail is set to take place on Saturday, July 13. To celebrate the completion of the newly constructed trail along the Billings Rims, the community is invited to the Trailblazing Event, taking place at Zimmerman Park at 11 a.m.
In addition to an appearance by Mayor Bill Cole, the event will feature live music by Arterial Drive, various food trucks including Big Guy Barbecue, and Alex Weiman and Chaquille Cozart of Complete Nutrition as masters of ceremony.
The Trailblazing Event will also serve to inform the public of plans for an entire system of trails along the Skyline Trail, and celebrate the donations and efforts put forth by the community along with the partners and members of Billings TrailNet.
Originally slated to take place in June, the Trailblazing Event was rescheduled so the paving and surfacing of the trail could be completed, according to a press release from Montana State University Billings.
The trail set to be unveiled will connect Zimmerman Park to Zimmerman Place, and feature a restroom in Zimmerman Park, park benches, interpretive signage providing information on its geographical features and wildlife, and pedestrian signs along the underpass of Zimmerman Trail.
