Two Billings-based credit unions are merging, pending state and federal regulator approval.
Avanta Federal Credit Union and Summit Credit Union are discussing a merger to lower expenses and offer diverse products and services, according to Avanta President and Chief Executive Rhonda Diefenderfer.
In addition to its Billings offices, Avanta has branches in Laurel, Red Lodge and Columbus. Summit, which started out as a teachers credit union, has offices on 24th Street West and on Main Street in the Heights.
Business operations at both credit unions will continue as normal during the transition and the merged credit union will take the Avanta Federal Credit Union name.
