Fire gutted a small home Saturday night between Billings and Molt.
The Molt Volunteer Fire Department was called out to the fire in the area of 5224 Jones Road, about seven miles east of Molt, shortly after 6 p.m. The house was engulfed when firefighters arrived.
Dispatchers placed a mutual aid call, and the Laurel Volunteer Fire Department responded to assist. While firefighters had most of the flames out by about 7 p.m., they continued to spray hot spots within the one-story, wooden home for another 30 minutes.
The fire left a number of large holes in the home where windows used to be. It sits next to a larger, newer-looking home in the wide-open ranchland between Billings and Molt.
Firefighters used engines, water tankers and smaller response trucks from both the Laurel and Molt departments to put out the blaze.
There were no injuries, and the fire’s cause was not immediately available.
The Yellowstone County Sheriff’s Office and a crew from NorthWestern Energy also responded.
