A woman and child ended up in a Billings hospital on Sunday after the all-terrain vehicle they were riding crashed into a parked pickup truck.
Billings Police Sgt. Ronda Fox said the 29-year-old woman, whose name has not been released, was riding the ATV southbound on the 300 block of Monroe Street with a 5-year-old child sitting in front of her when the ATV struck the back of a pickup parked on the west side of the road just north of Katz Lane.
The woman was unconscious when emergency crews arrived at about 12:20 p.m. while the boy, who was wearing a helmet, suffered what Fox said appears to an arm injury.
Both were loaded into a waiting ambulance and taken to a local hospital, although their conditions and the extent of their injuries weren't available as of 3 p.m.
Police blocked off the area, beginning at Katz and moving about a quarter block north, with yellow crime scene tape while investigating.
Fox said she planned to call in the department's specialized crash investigation team to assist.
It wasn't immediately clear why the ATV crashed into the truck.
American Medical Response and the Billings Fire Department also responded.
