A Billings woman and a young boy injured in a Sunday all-terrain vehicle crash on the South Side remained hospitalized Monday.
Billings Police Department Chief Rich St. John identified the woman as Tiffany Pease Smith, 29. A Billings Clinic spokeswoman said she remains in fair condition while the 5-year-old boy who was a passenger on the ATV is listed in good condition.
Sgt. Ronda Fox said police continue to investigate the crash, which happened on Monroe Street just north of the intersection with Katz Lane.
Smith was driving the ATV southbound on Monroe, with the boy sitting in front of her, when it crashed into the back of a parked pickup truck a little after noon.
The boy was wearing a helmet and suffered an arm injury while Smith was unconscious when emergency crews arrived.
Fox said on Monday that she didn't know if Smith had woken up yet and that no citations had been issued, although the investigation is ongoing.
It's still not clear what caused the ATV to crash into the pickup. The department's crash investigation team was called out on Sunday afternoon and Fox said that toxicology tests are pending to determine if alcohol or other substances played a factor in the crash.
