A head-on crash on King Avenue West in front of the Outback restaurant sent two women to the hospital Friday morning with non-life threatening injuries.

Billings Police Lt. Mark Cady said a woman who had a medical condition drove her late model Lincoln Continental the wrong way into the eastbound lanes of King Avenue West, just west of 20th Street West.

Two other vehicles were able to get out of the way before the Lincoln struck a maroon Chevrolet Malibu that was stopped in the far right lane, Cady said. The crash happened shortly before 9:36 a.m.

Both drivers, who are from Billings and were the sole occupants in their cars, were transported by ambulances to St. Vincent Healthcare and to Billings Clinic. Cady said both women were conscious and talking at the scene and did not appear to have life-threatening injuries.

A small dog that was in a carrier in the backseat of the Malibu was unhurt.

Cady said the driver of the Lincoln will be ticketed. The accident remains under investigation.
