A beekeeping workshop for beginners is set for 8 a.m. on May 11 at Drange Apiary, 8375 Danford Road.

Participants will learn how to start from scratch to completely running a beehive. Participants will be working with live bees.

The instructors ask that participants bring a beesuit, any tools for working hives you have and a smoker.

The apiary will try to have extra supplies on hand if participants don’t own any yet.

The cost of the workshop is $10 per person for the day and covers lunch and the cost of bringing in the instructors.

Guest speakers include a representative from Western Bee Supply and Jerry Bromenshank, a bee researcher from Missoula.
