Recipients of Montana State University's Presidential Scholarships receive an annual award of a $2,500 stipend plus a tuition waiver, bringing the total value over four years to $34,500. The scholarship is renewable for four years based on maintaining superior academic standing at MSU. Local recipients include Ashton Marie Solecki of Forsyth who will major in bioengineering and Johanna Mae Schultz of Glasgow who will major in biomedical science.
John Madden of Billings is on the spring Dean's List at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Ga.
Keiko Hayner of Billings graduated from Texas State University-San Marcos with a bachelor's degree in family and child development.

Brianna Burgess of Shepherd joined Nobel Laureates and CEOs at the Adventures of the Mind Summit, a prestigious, futuristic, academic event at the University of Montana in Missoula. One of five winners of a $1,000 scholarship, her selection was based on an essay she wrote for the Intelius Essay Contest. Winners were chosen by technology pioneer and philanthropist Naveen Jain, CEO of Intelius and chairman of Moon Express.

Triangle Communications has announced the 2011 scholarship recipients. Six of the best Montana high school academic quiz bowl students squared off with six members of the Wyoming academic All-Stars to culminate a year of hard work and academic learning. The final score was Montana 102, Wyoming 96. Contributing 21 points was junior Dan Beck of Billings Skyview High with junior Jeremy Chevalier, also of Skyview, with 18. Also contributing timely points was junior Brian Andersen of Skyview High. The Montana team coach was Rich McFate of Skyview High.

Air Force Airman Nelson A. Fees graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio. Fees is the son of Paul and Nancy Fees of Cody, Wyo.
Marine Corps Cpl. Jake K. Anderson is a member of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit beginning a deployment of the Pacific region that will include a major exercise in Australia. The exercise, called Talisman Sabre 2011, will allow Marines and sailors to work with partner military units from Australia to sharpen combat skills and exchange ideas and tactics. Anderson is a rifleman assigned to the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit at Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan. He is the son of Keith and stepson of Kelly D. Anderson of Laurel and is a 2010 graduate of West High.
Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Aaron J. Maczynski is a member of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit beginning a deployment of the Pacific region that will include a major exercise in Australia. Maczynski is a team leader. He is the son of Christine Berke of Big Rapids, Mich., and Thomas Maczynski of Cody, Wyo.
