My efforts to figure out what will happen with the city of Billings/MMIA matter have been unsuccessful. I've sent numerous e-mails and made numerous calls, but I've received no response from the city.
At this point, we don't know how, when or if the city will attempt to resolve this issue with the MMIA. One thing we do know: the matter is not on the council work session agenda for Monday night.
In his e-mail to me last week, City Attorney Brent Brooks said he would report to the council on Feb. 2 about what happened at the meeting. Since the meeting didn't take place, that item has been taken off (or never added) to the agenda. You can see Monday night's agenda here.
I'm not a fan of lawsuits to settle matters, but I'm also not a fan of closed meetings, and neither is anyone at The Gazette. If anyone knows how the city will deal with this issue, then you know more than I do. Give me a holler and let me know.
