It's a slow Monday night, and education reporter Becky Shay just pointed out that she was having trouble getting to School District 2's Web page (which is called billingsschools.org). I also checked, and did a Google search.
It seems that every link that used to go to the old SD2 Web site is now being rerouted to some sort of ad-based site featuring links to "debt consolidation," "massage schools," "dating online," "florists" and more. Even links from Billings schools go to that page. Here's a screen shot (click on it for a bigger picture):
I'm not a Web expert, but our online guy just told me that it's possible that the bill hasn't been paid on that domain or address, or something techie like that. At first, I thought it was a good ol' Web site hijacking, but it's probably something more benign.
Any ideas? (Of course, it'll probably be fixed tomorrow, rendering this blog post moot. But, oh well.)
UPDATE: As of at least 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, it looks like the old site is back.
