Moving river. The effects of last year’s flood continue to cause water problems for the city of Laurel. The flood of 2011 carved a new channel that diverts water away from the city water system intake. This summer’s low flows compound the problem. The expected long-term solution will require a federal grant.

Electronic recycling. A partnership between the city of Billings and E-Waste Solutions now lets residents recycle most electronics for free. (The exception is large appliances.) To get rid of old televisions, computer monitors, etc., drop them off at E-Waste’s warehouse, 15 N. 15th St. between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. An E-Waste collection bin also is available at the Billings landfill.
