I just watched the speech by Greg Gianforte. He thanked ranchers, farmers and the military; however, he failed to thank the first peoples of this continent. It is appalling and a huge disappointment that our native nations were not acknowledged at all. However, it shouldn't surprise me that we are often overlooked in our homelands. We will not be going away any time soon, in fact, we are rising up in many areas such as voting motivation. As our Cheyenne proverb states, "A nation is not conquered. Until the hearts of its women are on the ground. Then it is finished. No matter how brave it's warriors. Or how strong their weapons."
As a mother, a grandmother and a great-grandma, I shall rise and speak up for our children.
