This letter is long overdue, but I do want to express my thanks for a fabulous Honor Flight. "Honor Flight" is well-named. Everywhere we went, people reached out to shake our hands and thank us for serving our country. Patriotism most certainly is not dead! How humbling to receive this honor, when we realize that the real heroes were those who gave their lives.
Our leaders and helpers were simply great; they couldn't do enough for us. They handed out bottles of water, were there with a wheelchair if needed, and lending a helping hand or offering an encouraging word. Then, too, every bus ride was a history lesson.
I'm so grateful for those who planned the trip, for all the volunteers and for those who gave financially. Finally, I will never forget the welcome home when we arrived back in Billings! I'm proud to be a Montanan and an American.
