Re: “Medical research saves lives, creates jobs in Montana,” June 18.

With medical research institutions bracing for deep cuts in government funding, it's more important than ever to know where Montana's congressional candidates stand on this issue.

Public opinion polls show that a majority of Americans believe that accelerating investment in research to improve health should be a priority. Our national voter education initiative, “Your Candidates — Your Health,” provides an opportunity for candidates to state their positions on issues relevant to the health and well-being of Montanans.

Do candidates support or oppose boosting investment in medical research and innovation as a job creation strategy? Do they believe research to improve health and prevent disease is part of the problem or part of the solution to rising health care costs? It's time for them to make their opinions known at
