I am a graduate of Moore High School and currently pursuing my master's degree in geography at the University of Montana. For my thesis topic, I have chosen to focus on the geography of agriculture. In the next few weeks, I will be attempting to contact several people in the farming communities of Fergus and Judith Basin counties to request interviews for use in my research. These interviews will be used to help describe farmers' perceptions and reactions to changes in the location and size of grain elevators in central Montana.
This topic is of particular interest to me because I grew up in central Montana. My research will be made available to the public in the hopes that policymakers will use it to better understand the perspective of our farmers on issues which affect the ability to grow and sell agricultural products. My research is also intended to benefit the individual farmer by making the knowledge, opinions and ideas of other farmers available for discussion.
If you receive a phone call from me, please consider allowing me some of your time. Your experience and insights are valuable to me, your community members and policy makers.
