Like the Justin Peters family, when my wife and I moved to Billings, we were appalled that the largest city in Montana did not offer recycling. I immediately contacted the solid waste department and was told that recyclables would have to be shipped to another state for processing, which made it too expensive.
This was eight years ago. Perhaps things have changed since then.
I'm of the opinion that if our city can spend tax dollars on a new ballpark that benefits only a few, why can't tax dollars be spent to provide a comprehensive recycling program that benefits the entire community as well as the environment?
