My age is 69, and I have been a Republican since Sen. Goldwater. Enough is enough. I'm now voting for a Democrat, and Sen. Obama is my candidate.
Sen. McCain's proposal of privatizing my Social Security is unacceptable, and raising the retirement age will only deprive hard-working Americans of their just due. Taxing my Medicare and McCain's vote to cut Medicare payments to doctors by 10.6 percent is foolish. We cannot afford to reduce funding to Medicare. That will only hurt those of us who need it most.
What about my grandchildren and great-grandchildren? We must invest in our schools, increase teacher pay and give our children incentive to stay in school by providing a $4,000 tax credit in exchange for community service.
Last, but certainly not least, Obama will get our troops out of Iraq. God bless our troops, and may they all be home very soon.
