Letter: Symphony's efforts much appreciated

  • 0

The students of Laurel Elementary schools were treated to a performance combining the talents of our Billings Symphony Orchestra and guest artist Tim Marrone. Together, they told the "True Story of the Three Little Pigs" in a way that we had never seen before!

Director Ann Harrigan and her orchestra did a wonderful job of teaching our students about the families of instruments, as well as demonstrating how stories can be told using voice, instruments, drama and other artistic expressions. As I sat enjoying the performance, it occurred to me that many members of the symphony must have had to take time away from their work or other obligations to perform for us. What a wonderful gift to share not only their talents, but their time during the day to foster the love of artistic expression in our youth. Bravo and thanks!
