Our readers speak out

'Cowardly media' abet 'devious language police' The pro-abortion, pro-homosexual language police have devised a devious defense mechanism to protect themselves (and us) from some ugly truths. Their distortion of the language over the past 30 years is not a natural evolution. It is calculated plan. However, changing the nomenclature does not alter the facts, nor does pronouncing certain words "hateful" eliminate their reality.

"Choice" used to be a positive thing. Now it poses to mothers the awful question as to whether they should let their babies live and grow in the womb or hire a professional to kill them. Yes, I know, we are not supposed to say "kill"! That is a hate word, because it makes abortionists look bad. Can't we call it reproductive freedom or, at the very worst, termination of pregnancy? That way, we don't have to fix responsibility for the taking of an innocent life.

Common sense declares, and science confirms, that this "fetus" (Latin for offspring) has been alive since the moment of conception because it is growing. Pro-abortion types should abandon that tired old "nobody-knows-when-life-begins" cliche and move into the 21st century, with its new words like "sonogram" and "ultrasound."

Likewise, reality demands that we retain such words as "deviant" and "perversion" in our national vocabulary. The language police wish that we would substitute some innocuous term such as "alternative lifestyle," but that is a form of dishonesty we cannot embrace if our language is to have any real meaning.

The language police, thanks to a cowardly media and a consequently uninformed populace, have enjoyed remarkable success. However, all those sweet terms - "gay," "choice," "reproductive freedom" and "alternative lifestyle" - still cloak a rebellion against God's plan for the human race - sex between one man and one woman within the bonds of marriage.
