A Billings woman accused of causing a brain bleed in an infant was acquitted by a jury this week.

Tyler Leann Carothers, 28, was acquitted of assault on a minor. Her three-day jury trial ended Wednesday.

Carothers was the girlfriend of the father of the 19-month-old who was taken by ambulance to St. Vincent Healthcare in February 2016. She had been caring for the boy when he became unresponsive, according to charges.

Doctors found the infant had an active brain bleed and was recovering from an earlier brain bleed, charges state.
