A Glendive-area man denied that he was responsible for the shooting death of his father in October.

Todd Carlisle Fisher, 44, pleaded not guilty on Nov. 28 at the Dawson County Courthouse.

He was charged with deliberate homicide and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence after he called police to report the death of his father, 80-year-old Wilbur Fisher, on Oct. 16.

Wilbur Fisher had been shot in the head at his home west of town. Todd Fisher called the police and reported it as a break-in. A .357-caliber revolver was found in the bushes outside the house, according to court documents.

During the investigation, law enforcement learned that the father-son relationship was rocky. While Wilbur Fisher had been in the hospital, Todd Fisher charged $10,000 to his father's credit card without permission, charges state.

Wilbur Fisher had a life insurance policy, and a will directed assets to Todd Fisher. Court documents say that Todd Fisher's story changed during police interrogations, and he was arrested on Oct. 20.

Fisher's bond remains at $1 million.
