Leticia Aguirre Tyrrell

A woman charged by federal prosecutors in Billings with conspiracy to distribute meth was allegedly caught bringing 10 pounds of the drug into town from Arizona.

Leticia Aguirre Tyrrell was charged last month in U.S. District Court in Billings, but details of her arrest remained under seal until late last week.

Members of the Eastern Montana High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force used an informant to arrange a large drug buy with Tyrrell at the La Quinta Inn & Suites on South Frontage Road on June 23, according to charging documents.

After Tyrrell showed up at the hotel to complete the transaction, she was arrested. A search of her car found about 10 pounds of meth in the back seat, charging documents state.

When investigators interviewed Tyrrell, she stated she believed she was delivering meth from Arizona to someone in Billings, the charges state.

Tyrrell is scheduled to be arraigned Aug. 2 before Judge Timothy Cavan.
