Yellowstone County Commissioners welcomed Don Jones to his first meeting Wednesday morning.
Jones was elected to the county commission in November, beating incumbent Robyn Driscoll. Also at the meeting the three commissioners appointed Denis Pitman as the new chairman; John Ostlund had served in that role in 2018.
Before he was elected to be a county commissioner, Jones was a state legislator for House District 46; his House term expired on Monday. Before that, he served six years on the Billings City Council. He also owns the two Dickey's Barbecue Pit franchises in Billings and Laurel.
Driscoll is a former state senator for District 25 and former representative from Billings. She was appointed to the county commission seat two years ago when Bill Kennedy was named president and CEO of the Montana State University Billings Foundation.
