Missouri River Breaks

The Missouri River flows through northern Montana, passing lands administered by the Bureau of Land Management.

The Bureau of Land Management's Lewistown office has scheduled three meetings to discuss its draft Resource Management Plan and draft Environmental Impact Statement.

The meetings will all be held between 5 and 7 p.m. Here are the dates and places: July 8 at the Petroleum County Courthouse in Winnett; July 9 at the Yogo Inn in Lewistown; and July 10 at the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center in Great Falls.

The documents describe and analyze four alternatives for future management of the public lands and resources administered by the BLM within the Lewistown planning area which includes Cascade, Judith Basin, Meagher, Petroleum, Pondera, and Teton counties and portions of Fergus, Chouteau, and Lewis and Clark counties.

Although a preferred alternative is identified in the document, comments received from the public will be analyzed and evaluated before a final alternative is selected.

At the meetings, BLM managers and resource specialists will be available to discuss details of the plan, answer questions and provide tips for navigating the document and writing effective comments.

Written comments may be submitted electronically at BLM's website at https://go.usa.gov/xUPsP.
