BOZEMAN — Montana State University has completed its most successful fundraising campaign ever, raising more than $413 million in eight years.

The Bozeman Daily Chronicle reports that MSU and the MSU Alumni Foundation launched the public phase of the "What It Takes" campaign in September 2015. The goal set then was to raise a record $300 million by Dec. 31, 2018.

But by October 2016 the university had surpassed the original goal two years early.

Money raised by the campaign will go toward a number of programs and projects, including student scholarships, classrooms and laboratories and building student leadership skills.

MSU Alumni Foundation President and CEO Chris Murray says the organization is thrilled and humbled by the success of the campaign.
