BOZEMAN - A federal jury in Butte has awarded more than $2.5 million to the families of two Bozeman women who were killed in a 2006 highway accident in Park County.
The jury on Monday found a Colorado company, Patrol Helicopters Inc., liable for the crash on U.S. Highway 89 that killed Joan Bowman and Theresa Messick of Bozeman.
Bowman's husband, 75-year-old Darrell Bowman, maintained that the driver of a fuel truck operated by Patrol Helicopters did not signal before turning. And so, as Bowman attempted to pass the truck, there was no indication that it was about to make a left turn.
Attorneys for Patrol Helicopters did not return phone calls seeking comment Monday.
Bowman's attorney, Joseph P. Cosgrove, said Patrol Helicopters was liable for the accident because the truck was not evidently turning.
