GREAT FALLS - Cascade County prosecutors have filed an attempted-murder charge against a man accused of attacking, beating and threatening to kill a Great Falls woman.
Thomas Peltier, 41, of Missoula is also charged with felony assault on a peace officer for allegedly trying to ram a police car. He is also charged with leading police on a high-speed chase that caused injuries to other motorists and ended in a crash. Prosecutors say Peltier hid outside a woman's house at about 8 p.m. Friday and forced his way inside when she got home.
The woman was choked and had her face smashed into the floor hard enough to break a bone. The woman said Peltier threatened to kill her and cut her head off. She was able to escape and called police.
Peltier's bail was set at $150,000.
