Paul Tough, journalist and author of "Whatever It Takes: Geoffrey Canada's Quest to Change Harlem and America," will speak at a community forum in Lame Deer on Monday.
The forum is sponsored by the Boys and Girls Club of the Northern Cheyenne nation. It will be from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the club's gym, and lunch is provided. The event is open to the public, and though an RSVP is appreciated, it isn't required.
The forum will focus on creating a support system to help children graduate from college and successfully transition to a career. Tough will discuss Canada's creation of a successful cradle-to-college pipeline of services in Harlem, N.Y.
Following his talk, a panel of local speakers will talk about what resources worked well for them in their college and career paths. After that, participants will meet in small groups to work on how that can happen on the Northern Cheyenne Reservation.
