As part of Craft Beer Week, U.S. Sen. Max Baucus on Friday joined Tamarack Brewing Co. in announcing a first for the Montana brewery: a design contest for a new brew celebrating Montana’s Rocky Mountain Front.

Tamarack’s “Have Beer, Need Art Contest” runs until midnight, July 15, and is open to anyone 21 and older. The brewery is looking for creative designs for its newest beer, Rocky Mountain Front Heritage Ale.

The beer is barrel aging and will be ready for pouring in August, when a panel of judges will choose the winning entry.

Baucus recently reintroduced the Rocky Mountain Front Heritage Act. The legislation protects access, wildlife and ranching heritage along the Front.

“This contest is about celebrating one of Montana’s most treasured places and all the small businesses and economic activity that the Rocky Mountain Front supports,” said Baucus, who founded the Senate’s bipartisan Small Brewers Caucus.

Contest entries must be submitted electronically, either by posting to Tamarack’s Missoula Facebook page its Lakeside Facebook page or by email to
