BOZEMAN — The local Boys and Girls Club director has been suspended after being accused of deceiving donors about the number of children attending her programs.

Jeanne Bucher was suspended with pay about a month ago, said Robert Quinn, her son and attorney. An interim director, Derrick Capdeville, was appointed to replace her.

Bucher is accused of giving private donors and grant providers exaggerated reports about the number of kids attending her club, in order to raise money, Quinn said.

However, the club's board has provided no evidence to prove the allegations, he said.

The club's attorney, Bill Hanson, said reinstating Bucher is an option, but he declined further comment.

Bucher's suspension came after officials from the organization's national office assessed Bozeman's club about two months ago. Area residents have also complained that the club isn't open enough to adequately meet its goals to serve children.
