BOZEMAN - A 40-year-old Bozeman man accused of punching and kicking his wife and hitting her in the head several times with a shovel has pleaded guilty to misdemeanor partner or family member assault.
Thomas William Warner appeared in District Court on Monday, and Judge Mike Salvagni gave him a suspended six-month jail term. The judge, adopting a plea bargain, also fined Warner $250 and gave him credit for 40 days served in jail.
Prosecutors say Warner was drunk last July when he attacked his wife and threatened to shoot her. The Bozeman Daily Chronicle reports the woman, who authorities say suffered two black eyes and several bruises, declined to help prosecutors.
Warner was initially charged with felony assault with a weapon
