A Busby woman previously convicted in a marijuana case will spend 18 months in federal prison for illegally having guns and ammunition.
Chief U.S. District Judge Richard Cebull on Friday sentenced Christina Pilkington Small, 64, to a term shorter than the guideline range of 41 to 51 months. But Cebull was unwilling to give her probation, as requested by the defense attorney.
"You got a break the last time and you're back here. Now you're asking the court for another one," Cebull said, noting that Small got probation in the marijuana case.
Small, along with her husband, Lemuel Thomas "Butch" Small, was convicted last September for being felons in possession of firearms and ammunition.
They had four guns and boxes of ammunition in their home in May 2010. The couple was convicted in 2003 of distributing marijuana.
In November, Cebull sentenced Lemuel Small to three years in prison on the firearms violations.
