Couple dies in weekend accident

Gazette Staff

An elderly Harlowton couple died Saturday in a single-vehicle accident south of Harlowton in Wheatland County.

According to the Montana Highway Patrol, Harold Krause, 89, and his wife, Irene, 82, died at 11:20 a.m. after their car drifted off the road and hit a bridge abutment. The 1996 Lincoln Town Car driven by Harold Krause was northbound on Highway 191. After striking the abutment, the car went into a ravine and came to rest on its tires. Both occupants were pronounced dead at the scene by the Wheatland County coroner.

According to the patrol, Irene Krause was wearing a seat belt but Harold Krause wasn't. Alcohol and speed weren't a factor in the accident, and the road was dry, according to the patrol. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Harlowton.
