Federal task force agents on Wednesday arrested Wendell Ray Redstar, 30, of Billings, who was featured in The Billings Gazette's Crime Watch feature two days before.
The Montana Violent Offender Task Force received a tip from someone who had seen the newspaper item, said U.S. Marshal Dwight MacKay. The tip led officers to St. Vincent Healthcare, where they found Redstar and another person in a vehicle parked outside the emergency room.
A state probation officer measured Redstar's blood-alcohol content at 0.172 percent, more than twice the legal driving limit of 0.08 percent. Officers arrested Redstar on an outstanding warrant and booked him into the Yellowstone County jail. The warrant was based on a probation violation for a conviction for criminal endangerment. Redstar also is required to register as a violent offender because of previous convictions, including assault on a federal law enforcement officer.
