BOZEMAN — A former Montana State University student who pleaded guilty to stealing guns from a Bozeman sporting goods store has been sentenced to 15 months in prison and three years of probation.
U.S. District Judge Donald Molloy in Missoula sentenced Connor Hayden Kraegel, of Poolsville, Md., on Tuesday. Kraegel previously pleaded guilty to theft from a federal firearms licensee for breaking into Bob Ward and Sons on Feb. 8, 2010, and taking 11 firearms, including a high-powered .308-caliber rifle, several .223-caliber rifles, several pistols and a 12-gauge shotgun. Nine of the guns have been recovered.
The Bozeman Daily Chronicle reports police and other investigators cracked the case when a Bob Ward's employee, who was also an MSU student, saw a flyer posted on campus advertising some of the firearms for sale.
