KALISPELL — Just days after a West Glacier mortgage broker denied federal charges of bank and wire fraud, prosecutors moved to dismiss the charges.
Deanna Helen McAtee was indicted in a complicated case involving money that she borrowed from Whitefish Credit Union and then loaned to another couple on whom she later foreclosed.
Prosecutors alleged she later restructured the loan, leaving the credit union's collateral unsecured. She was charged with bank fraud in a loan that she brokered.
McAtee denied the charges on Sept. 14.
Five days later, prosecutors sought the dismissal to give them time to re-evaluate the quality of the evidence "in light of recent developments."
U.S. District Judge Dana L. Christensen granted the dismissal "with prejudice" last Thursday. The charges could be refiled.
