KALISPELL - An apple-loving grizzly bear was captured near Martin City, east of Columbia Falls, and released in Glacier National Park.
The 5- to 6-year-old female bear had been eating apples close to homes in Martin City.
The bear was captured Sunday and released the same day in the upper McDonald Creek Drainage in Glacier Park.
The bear was fitted with a radio collar and her movements will be monitored.
Fish, Wildlife and Parks grizzly bear management specialist Tim Manley said apples are strong attractors for grizzly bears this time of year. He said householders should pick up apples and secure things such as dog food and garbage to avoid attracting wildlife.
