HAVRE — Havre Daily News publisher Val Murri says he will retire at the end of the year.
Murri has worked for the newspaper for 17 years, starting as the business manager in April 1992. He was named interim publisher in November 2005 and became publisher in January 2006.
He says his retirement activities will include spending more time with his grandchildren.
Havre Daily co-owner Rob Hicks says Murri has been a tremendous asset to the paper and the community for years and called him a "classy, hardworking, honest guy."
Hicks says he and Gary Stevenson are wrapping up a nationwide search for a replacement. More than 100 people applied and he hopes to name a new publisher soon.
