GREAT FALLS — A Great Falls infant with injuries consistent with having been shaken has been declared medically brain dead at a Spokane, Wash., hospital and Cascade County prosecutors say they plan to charge her 21-year-old mother with deliberate homicide.
Jasmine Nicole Eskew was arrested Tuesday after her 6-month-old daughter was taken to the hospital by ambulance and discovered to have bleeding on the brain. Police were called after medical personnel determined the injuries were consistent with having been shaken.
County Attorney John Parker said the baby was declared brain dead Thursday evening. He said he planned to file the homicide charge on Friday.
Eskew was initially charged with felony aggravated assault and felony criminal endangerment. Her bail was set at $100,000.
