HELENA - President-elect Barack Obama's nominee for Interior secretary, Colorado Sen. Ken Salazar, has agreed to visit Montana after he's confirmed by the Senate.
Salazar accepted an invitation from Democratic Sen. Jon Tester to visit the state. The two met Wednesday in Washington, D.C.
Tester suggested that he and Salazar visit the Blackfeet Indian Reservation and tour the St. Mary Canal by horseback. The crumbling, nearly 100-year-old canal supplies water to thousands of people across northern Montana. Water users have been lobbying the government to help pay for needed repairs.
Details of Salazar's visit to Montana have not been determined.
